General Information, continued... MATERIAL AND HEAT TREATING LINN sprockets and gears are made from .35 to .45 carbon steel and can be hardened without carburizing. Efficient heat treating facilities make the cost of hardening the teeth very small in relation to the total cost of manufacturing a sprocket or gear. Life expectancy may well be double, or more, that of an unhardened part. When replacement labor, potential down-time, lost production and increased chain life are considered, heat treating is paid for many times over. As setup time for hardening a small part may be high in relation to the cost of the part, we furnish small, solid sprockets with hardened teeth as stock items. They are indicated by the letter H ending the catalog number. Larger sizes can all be hardened as well, and the charges are listed at the bottom of each page. Linn Gear Co.'s liability for any breach of warranty shall be limited to either the return of the defective goods and repayment of the purchase price, or repair and replacement of the nonconforming goods or parts as the Seller may elect.
